Robert Casale, Born Roberto Casale in Fino Mornasco, Como, Italy, Feb 13th, 1964. He spent most of his early years in Toronto, Ontario where he studied music and began playing drums at the age of 13. Toured in various bands around the city and throughout Canada. During this time he learned to play guitar and write lyrics while composing original songs.
To make ends meet he began to work as a tile and stone installer. Moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba in 1989 while touring with a band. He continued to install tile and stone and found a way to utilize the left over cement from his installations which was going to waste being dumped in the garbage. So he began to create faces out of this cement, effectively recycling the material.
These faces resemble caricatures and “Faces by Robert Casale” was born. Robert continues to write and record music and do tile and stone installations while showing his cement faces in galleries and exhibitions in Winnipeg and throughout Canada. Art, Sculpture, Art and Design.
